Eight Week Slip Casting Course
Start date : Thursday 2nd May
7pm – 9pm
$550/person (includes all materials and firings)
Medium sized bowls for soup/pasta/noodles + spoons and chopsticks
Anyone can do this class, no experience is needed. Unlike learning to throw on the pottery wheel (which can take a very, very long time to perfect or even centre the clay!!), slip casting is super easy to learn and makes really great functional pieces.
This is the format of the class...
Week one
We hand-build the bowl, spending time getting the shape it just how we want it.
Week Two
We make a plaster mould of the bowl.
I then crash dry the moulds so they are ready to use the following week.
Once you have your plaster mould you can use it over and over and over again! At the end of the course you get to take this home with you so, if you want, you can continue to use it.
Week Three, Four, Five & Six
We cast 4 bowls (you can only use the mould once each night), decorating them as we go with Eucalypt Homewares decals. Also hand building some spoons and chopsticks to go with the bowls.
Week Seven
We glaze our bowls. I fire them during the week.
Week Eight
This week is pick up week and a class party to celebrate our great work.
